Sandy Jack Brown

April 16, 1946 — April 2, 2023

DeFuniak Springs

Sandy Jack Brown, known to many as “Sandy Jack Brown, the nicest guy in town!” passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He was born to James Edward Brown and Patsy Ruth Chamberlain at Lakeside Hospital in DeFuniak Springs on April 16, 1946.  He graduated from Walton Senior High School in 1965 and went on to OWCC.

Sandy Jack married Carolyn Pitman in August 1966.  They spent 56 years building a life and a family together as lifelong residents of Walton County. He had the experience of working all over the country, but he was always eager to return home to Walton County. After time served in the Navy, Sandy Jack spent years working in the construction industry. He spent most of his time as a Superintendent in the commercial industry, however later earned his General Contractor’s license and had his own construction company.

Sandy Jack has been a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #225. While he was a member of Lodge #225, he loved to visit any and all Lodges he had the opportunity to.  Serving his community, Sandy Jack volunteered with the Argyle Volunteer Fire Commission, was a dedicated Board member of the Walton County Heritage Association and a faithful member of the North Walton Republican Club.

Sandy Jack grew up in the Eucheeanna community and took a special interest in it.  He served many years as the President of the Eucheeanna Community Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Patsy Brown and a grandson, Chance Griffin.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Brown, his daughters Tia Brown Griffin and Shalene Hall (Clay) and his son, Christopher Brown. His grandchildren Ashley Carter (Aaron), Holly Brown (Kyle), Kyler Hall, and Preston Brown.  He is also survived by his special and beloved great-grandchildren Caroline Mackenzie and Oliver Zane Carter. He also leaves behind his sister Cynthia McCleskey (Jim) and his brother Frank Brown (Connie).

Anyone that knew Sandy Jack knew that he never missed an opportunity to stop and speak to anyone and everyone.  He loved to volunteer in his community and was always reaching out to help anyone in need. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
