ZABA FRANK COUCH
Mr. Zaba Couch, Age 80 of Santa Rosa Beach passed away at the family residence Tuesday, September 2, 2008. He was born December 21, 1927 in Warrior, Alabama the son of Zaba Frank and Ethel Arizona Kemp Couch. After finishing high school at Warrior High he served a tour of duty with the United States Army in the Phillipines. He then received his BA degree from Troy State Teacher’s College and his Masters from Montevalo College. He was employed by the Walton County Board of Education some twelve years and retired from the Lake County Board of Education after an additional eighteen years of teaching. He and his wife moved to Santa Rosa Beach where they built their home and have resided for the past twenty years. Mr. Couch was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing and woodworking and working in his garden and enjoyed the last two decades of retirment with his family.
Among survivors are his wife Elaine Cawthon Couch of Santa Rosa Beach. His sons, Frank and David; his sister, Nell Young and his sisters-in-law Stella Margaret Gatlin and Dorothy Mitchell. Four grandchildren, Joanna, Libby, Joshua and Elijah also survive.
Elaine has asked that no flowers be sent, rather those wishing too, may make memorials in Zaba’s memory to Hospice of the Emerald Coast or to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends in Jerry Evans Chapel, 668 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs, Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 3 until 5 P.M.
