On December 15 2021 Virjean Helen Brost Harstvedt passed away peacefully at the age of 81. She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on April 10,1940 to Ernest Peter Brost and Florence Elizabeth Weber Brost. After moving to Santa Rosa Beach in 1972, she became involved in her community. Virjean was an active Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, a school nurse volunteer at Freeport School, and a substitute teacher. She worked several years with Child Protective Services. However, Virjean's greatest love was her family and friends. When she wasn't supporting her grandchildren at sporting events, she was playing cards or bingo, volunteering at church, or planning her next travel adventures. Virjean is preceded in death by her sister Ruth Strohbusch, and her two brothers Norman and Claude Brost.
Among survivors are her four children, Thor C. Harstvedt and his life-long love Sherwin Stacey, Sara Anna Hodgen and her husband Ronald Kyle Hodgen, Brenda C. Harstvedt Anastacio and her husband Eduardo Anastacio, and Jon G. Harstvedt. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Jordan Weber Hodgen, Kylee Anna Hodgen, Mary Annika Hodgen, Heath Citori Porter, Annika Elizabeth Porter, and Winston Knute Douglas Harstvedt. Her sister Olive Fischer and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Jordan Hodgen, Winston Harstvedt, Heath Porter, Corey Harstvedt, Kirk Doudna and Doug Strohbusch. Visitation will be held at Saint Rita Catholic Church 137 Moll Drive, on Monday, December 20,2021 from 5 until 7 P.M. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 21,2021 at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Rita Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Harstvedt Family Plot in Gulf Cemetery located on Highway 393 South.
