Biography

Mr. Thomas Cecil Whatley, age 89 of DeFuniak Springs passed away at the family residence. He was born December 18, 1921 in Dale County, Alabama the son of Henry Clayton Whatley and Bessie Ellen Woodham Whatley. He moved to Walton County in February of 1965 from Orlando. He served his country with the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Whatley was a cabinet maker by trade and was a fifty year member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is predeceased by his wife Willene Clark Whatley and his sons Gary and Mark; his daughter Sharon; his sisters, Aileen, Vernell, Bonnie, Mary Alice and his brothers Vann and James.

Among survivors are his daughters, Linda S. Lewis; Bessie L. Whatley and Mildred W. Yancey. His son, Samuel C. Whatley. Eleven grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. in New Life Seventh Day Adventist Church, 532 Lakeview Drive DeFuniak Springs with Pastor Martin Fancher officiating.
