THOMAS ROBERT BALL

Mr. Thomas Robert Ball, age 78 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 at the family residence. He was born October 19, 1929 in Orange, New Jersey the son of Robert Joseph and Elizabeth Helen Homlish Ball. Mr. Ball attended school in Montclair, New Jersey graduating from Immaculate Conception Catholic School and marrying his high school sweetheart two years later. He and his wife ended up in Manassas, Virginia where Tom ended his thirty year career in 1989 working for the FAA. After retirement in 1992 he and his wife moved to DeFuniak Springs where they became members of Saint Margaret Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. When not outdoors he liked western movies and mystery movies, usually always being able to figure out “who-done-it” within the first few minutes of the movie. He loved his family and his God. He is predeceased by his daughter Catherine.

Among survivors are his wife of fifty-eight years Jean Mary Stokley Ball; his children Linda Ann Newlon and husband Steve; Thomas R. Ball, Jr. and wife Kirsten; Karen Lee Bobbitt and husband Mike; Jeanne Marie Foster and husband Harry; Douglas Alan Ball and wife Sherrie and Mary Elizabeth Bass and husband Charlie. His brother-in-law Jerry Stokley, nineteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In leiu of flowers memorials may be made in Mr. Ball’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. A
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.
at Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church 247 U. S. Highway 331 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida with Reverend Rick Dawson officiating. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Jerry Evans.
