Susan Michele Lusk

Susan Michele Lusk was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs. She was born on October 4, 1968 to parents William and Jeanette Nowling and she attended Ponce de Leon High School and Okaloosa Walton Community College. She was a longtime member of Bridge Creek Baptist Church in Ponce de Leon. She passed away on November 8, 2025.

Susan worked at Discount Carpet & Décor for over 25 years. Her quality work earned her a reputation of being a great designer of kitchens, bathrooms, and flooring. Whether it was carpet, tile, or vinyl plank, Susan was always able to create a design that pleased her customers.

She loved being with family and being at the beach. Her “Ya-Ya’s” house in Grayton Beach was a place she looked forward to staying every summer. She treasured time with her stepchildren. Sharing dinner, baking cookies, and watching Wheel of Fortune made their weekly time together special. FSU was another of her favorite things, and she was an avid fan through the good, the bad, and the ugly - never wavering in her loyalty and support of her team. She never shied away from football talk, and she was able to hold her own in any conversation about college football.

Susan is survived by her son Mack Coleman Lowe, father William Nowling, mother Jeanette Nowling, stepchildren Joshuah Lusk (Alexis) and Jakob Lusk (Kelli) and her true heart, her step grandchildren: Xander, Olivia, Julian, and Josiah. She also leaves behind siblings Vicki Galloway (Drew), Kathy Friend (Greg), and Michael W. Nowling. aunts and uncles Mae Ritz (Richard), Margaret Smith (James), Eleene Mayville (Joe), Carolyn Andrews, and Mary Andrews, and her loving nephews William Christopher Strickland, Michael Chaise Nowling, Caylon Gregory Friend, and Riley Michael Nowling.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Wright and Verla Mae Nowling and her maternal grandparents Orlan and Mary Nell Andrews.

She will be remembered for her kindheartedness, her willingness to help others, and for being the best sister to her siblings.

Pallbearers are: Colin Hicks, Joshua Lusk, Caylon Friend, Chaise Nowling, Riley Nowling, Clint Alford, and Buddy Brown.
