ROSA SULLIVAN

Mrs. Rosa  Marie Gorum Sullivan, age 85 of DeFuniak Springs, formerly of Clermont, Florida  died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.  She was born November 7, 1934 in Brooks, Alabama, the daughter of Louis M. and Ora Lee Dreading Gorum.  After graduating from Red Level High School she received her BS from  the University of Montevallo.  While living in DeFuniak Springs she taught girls’ P.E. and served as cheerleader sponsor.  The family relocated to Clermont, Florida where she continued her thirty plus years career as P.E. teacher and cheerleader sponsor.  Rosa lived life to the fullest.  Her favorite things included spending time with friends and family at Seagrove Beach and in recent years of retirement traveling with her sister and brother-in-law.  Her love for life and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.  She is predeceased by her husband  of fifty years, William V. Sullivan.

Rosa is survived by four sons; William L. (Joan). John C.  (Rebecca), Marc W. (Kristin) and Phillip G. (Cheri).  Seven grandchildren, Wesley (Christina), Emily, Matthew, Jason, William, Noah and Ashley.  Her great grandson, Owen.  Her sister, Margaret (Larry) Sanders, her sister-in-law Vera Tillett, niece Angela Sanders and nephews  David (Morgan) Sanders, Sidney and Michael (Julie) Tillett.  and two special great nephews, Oscar and Foster Sanders and a special great niece Sutton Sanders also survive.

Memorials may be made in Rosa Sullivan’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, the Alzheimers Foundation of America or the charity of one’s choice.  A brief visitation will be held Sunday, December 15, 2019  from 1:30 until 2 P.M. with the service beginning at 2:00 P.M. in First United Methodist Church, 88 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 with Reverend Francis Turner officiating.
