ROBERT DALE "BOB" PARKS

November 28, 1930 — July 17, 2021

Mr. Bob Parks, United States Marine Corps (Ret)  passed away at the family residence Saturday morning, July 17, 2021.  He was born November 28, 1930 in Shelby, Indiana the son of Wilson L. and Nina Pearl Lappa Parks.  Bob served his country in the United States Marines.  Many people in the Panama City and Panama City Beach area will remember Bob in his association with SunBird on South Thomas Drive where for many years he served as superintendent.  Over the years at SunBird Bob ingratiated himself with the unit owners and long term renters and became a family name in the course of their lives.  He had a remarkable memory and called most of the owners by first name and knew their unit numbers and the paticular peculiarities of each individual unit.  Probably no person had more knowledge of the inner workings of SunBird than Bob Parks.  In the past few years Bob was affected like everyone else in the area with the advent of Hurricane Michael which took a tremendous toll on SunBird.  Bob's own personal home sufferred extensive damage but his first loyalities were to SunBird.  During this same period he lost his wife and Bob's own advanced years began catching up with him.  As his health failed, his love of SunBird and the thousands and thousands of owners and long term renters never lessened.

It's a new age, a new generation of owners and long term renters at SunBird and as the years pass perhaps Bob Park's name will fade from memory, never-the-less, his footprints are everywhere.

It was Bob's wish to be cremated with no formal services.  Private family interment is being planned.
