Reatha Bradley

Mrs. Reatha Bradley, age 80 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 in a Pensacola hospital. She was born April 11, 1930 in Schuyler, Nebraska the daughter and youngest of seven children of Charles Floyd and Ella Pansy Johnson Strahan. She moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa where she met Edward Patrick Bradley. They were married March 22, 1949 soon after Edward’s return from the Marines at the end of World War II, a marriage that would span some sixty-one years. In the span of the next sixteen years they were blessed with the birth of eleven children. Reatha’s trail led her eventually to Crestview in 1974 where she proudly served as a rural route letter carrier with the United States Postal Service until her retirement in 1992. Retirement led Reatha and Edward to a quiet home in DeFuniak Springs in the summer of 1999. The family eventually blossomed to 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. the latest of which was born last month. Reatha was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church and its Cenacle Prayer Group.

Among survivors are her husband, Edward, her children Julieneen and husband Mike, Mary and husband Jamie, Christine, Edward, Jr. and wife Dari, Bridget and husband Donald, Susan and husband Andrew, Daniel and wife Alison, Matthew and wife Meeiling, Andrew and wife Ronda and Lawrence. Her son Peter preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Bradley’s memory to Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. A time of visitation and Rosary will be held Monday, September 27, 2010 in Jerry Evans Chapel at 6:30 P.M. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church with Reverend Rick Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Live Oak Memorial Cemetery in Crestview.
