Raymond Greenlee

Mr. Raymond Fletcher Greenlee age 85 of DeFuniak Springs passed away at the family residence Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born February 13, 1923 in Rutledge, Tennessee the son of Carl John and Nora Mae McElhaney Greenlee. After attending school in Rutledge he joined the United States Army proudly serving his country. Ray owned and operated his own jewelry store and was a watchmaker. He was a member of Rising Star Masonic Lodge in Rutledge and a member of Oleika Shrine Temple in Lexington, Kentucky. After retirment he and his wife moved to DeFuniak Springs because of his dogs, Joe and Poncho; they needed space to roam freely, away from city life.
Moving to DeFuniak Springs in the late nineties Mr. Greenlee was an avid outdoorsman and lived out the remainder of his life enjoying nature.

Among survivors are his wife of sixty-four years Laverne Greenlee. His sons, Norman and wife Sharon of Cynthina, Kentucky, Roger of DeFuniak Springs and Jimmy and wife Jean of Paris, Kentucky. His daughter, Marilyn of Georgetown, Kentucky. His sister, Willadean Cown, nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and one of his dogs, Poncho also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to funeral time. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans chapel with Larry Heisman officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
