Patricia Ann Thompson was born in DeFuniak Springs on August 30, 1950 to parents Edward and Edna Sconiers. She lived all of her life in DeFuniak Springs, graduating from Walton High School in 1968, and she was a longtime member of East Baptist Church. Pat passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2026.

Pat’s family’s restaurant, a true landmark of DeFuniak Springs, Ed’s Restaurant, aka Tastee Freeze, opened its doors in 1964. She began working there with its opening at the young age of 13, and she dedicated the next 43 years to serving people there. She married the love of her life, James, and raised her family during those years. She retired when her aging mother needed full time care and Pat stepped into the role of her primary caretaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Edna Sconiers and brother Glen Sconiers.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Kenneth Thompson, daughters Robin Long and Amy Smith, grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Barrow, Taylor Ann Smith, James Michael Long, and Payton Grace Smith, and greatgrandchild Ossian “Ozzy” Michael Long. She is also survived by brothers Tim Sconiers (Debbie), Tommy Sconiers (Mary Jane) and sister-in-law Colleen Sconiers and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat was the backbone of her family. Her life’s dedication to caring for and loving others so well leaves behind a void that no one can fill. She will be so greatly missed and every memory of her will be greatly treasured by all who knew her.

Donations can be made in Patricia's honor to Children's Home Society, Ronald McDonald House, or Gideon's International.
