Opal Florence Ward Godsey passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, in Niceville. Opal was born February 2, 1937, to Willie N Ward and Mary Juliette Rigdon Ward. She was a longtime member of Bruce United Methodist Church, and she was also a member of Muscogee Nation of Florida in Bruce, Florida. 

 She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Judy Ward, her younger sister Mazie Jo Carter, and her oldest son, Kenny Wooten. 

 She is survived by her husband, Earl Godsey, son Dewey Wooten, brother Billy Ward (Faye), brother-in-law Phil Carter, special daughters-in-law Valerie and Dee, grandchildren Heather Wooten, Dustin Wooten, Christopher Wooten, April Villar, Lacy Villar, great-grandchildren Reace and Natalie Wooten, and nieces and nephews Donna, Karen, Josh, and Julie. 

 Opal’s grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She treasured every moment they could share together. She also took cooking seriously, and she greatly enjoyed it. She was well known for her delicious potato salad, savory chili, and delectable desserts. 

 She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
