Mr. Odie Slay, long time resident and area businessman passed away late Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in a Fort Walton Beach healthcare facility. He was born March 10, 1933 in Walton County the son of Marion and Mary “Lovie” McLendon Slay. Most will remember Mr. Slay in his business Slay Auto Salvage which he owned and operated since 1968. He is preceeded in death by his son, Marion Lonnie Slay II and Deborah Ann Slay Smith; his brothers and sisters, Alphus, Floyd, Dock, Nick, Ida, Annie, Gene, Bud and Albert.

Mr. Slay is survived by his son, Toby Lee Slay and wife Tina of San Antonio, Texas. His daughter Wanda Lynn Slay of DeFuniak Springs; his grandchildren, Donovan Smith, Laken Davis, Treasure Slay, Delylah Slay, Sabrina Slay, Tiana Lippert, Sasha Kemp and Tanner Lippert. His great grandchildren, Samarah and Conner. His sister, Mary Snellgrove of Ozark. The mother of his children, Faye Slay and special friends Mae Miller, Kenneth Harrison and Grady Anderson also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. Those asked to serve as casketbearers are Grady Anderson, Jimmy Slay, Wilford Carroll, Jerry Slay, Lee Roy Holden, David Slay and J.B. Slay. A time of visitation will be Friday, December 31, 2010 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
