Norman Young

Mr. Norman Henry Young, age 88 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born November 5, 1919 in Venice, Ohio the son of Theodore and Mary Fox Young. Mr. Young was a design draftsman by trade and worked many years in California and Ohio. After retirement he came to Ponce deLeon where he farmed forty acres for nine years. He and his wife moved to DeFuniak Springs in 1978 and was a member of Saint Margaret Catholic Church where he served on the building committee in 1986. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders where his nephew was a team player.

Among survivors are his wife Margaret Ann Mantey Young of DeFuniak Springs. His sister Mildred, his brother Jim and wife Mary Ann and his brother Raymond. His sister-in-law Enid Rose Scheck and husband Richard and a brother-in-law Edward also survives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Friday, November 7, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church with Reverend Rick Dawson officiating.
