Biography

Nancy Collinsworth, age 69, a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 5, 1944 in Lakeside Hospital in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of Olin and Minnie Johnson Miller. Nancy attended Darlington School and was a housewife until the children got old enough for her to go to work. She was employed with Continental Apparel for some twenty years, and later worked with Sarah’s Textiles/Professional Products until her retirement in 1997. She loved gospel music and twenty four hours a day her radio was set at 1460 A.M. where WZEP was her connection with what was going on. With the radio in the background she found time to watch Wheel of Fortune and Texas Walker Ranger. She was guilty of wetting a hook, anytime anyone wanted to go fishing, with the condition they would put the worm on her hook for her. Nancy was a true and faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and those attending her funeral service will see her well worn Bible in her hand, the sign of a well lived life. She delighted in her family, especially her grand babies. She is predeceased by her husband Bob Collinsworth, her brothers, Irvin “Possum” Miller and J.C. Miller and her sister Evadee Slay.

Among survivors are her children, Charlotte Day and husband Michael. James Collinsworth and Tabatha Collinsworth. Her grandchildren, William Bailey, Jr., Michael Day, Jr. and wife Lindy, Jonathan Collinsworth, Carl Ann Gordon and husband Caleb, Jeffery Collinsworth and Atha Collinsworth. Her great grandchildren, Michelle, Richard and Nathanel. Her brothers, Olen, Cordozia, Ezra and Betty Jo, Everette and Cornell and Gail Her sister, Sylvia Ann Stewart and Billy and her sister-in-law Mae Miller. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The family has made a request there be no flowers. A love offering may be made in Nancy Collinsworth’s memory to Tabatha Collinsworth. A time of visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 10 until 11 A.M. with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. in Woodlawn Baptist Church with Brother Jack Bailey officiating.
