Milton Marion Pearson, Jr

Mr. Milton M. Pearson, Jr. of the Liberty Community of North Walton County entered into eternal rest in the afternoon hours of September 23, 2025 at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center. He was born December 13, 1939 in Mobile, Alabama, the son of Milton M. Pearson, Sr. and Lora Lou Wilkerson Pearson. Milton grew up in the Jackson Still Community, graduating Walton High School in 1958. He graduated from Troy State University with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Chemistry and Physics.

On June 6, 1962, Milton married the love of his life, Sara Nell Hall. Following his college graduation, Milton was a Civil Service employee for Republic and Bendix as a mathematician at Site C-6 to assist with development of the military radar system. He was offered a position at either a US Embassy or on the island of Madagascar. The day following the offer, the US Embassy was bombed. After that event, Sara indicated she was not going to Madagascar, and this prompted his decision to pursue a career in teaching mathematics in Walton County. Milton left teaching upon the formation of a family farming partnership, where he stayed until his retirement.

Milton was a member of Cluster Springs Baptist Church. As a very spiritual man, he served as an adult Sunday School teacher for many years and was regularly requested to teach and fill in for various positions at neighboring churches. Milton served on the board of directors for Walton County Hospital, and he was a committee member for the U. S. Department of Agriculture's Farmers Home Administration, which provided financial and technical assistance to farmers, families, and rural communities.

Milton was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife Sara Nell of almost 60 years, and his brother Bruce Pearson.

He is survived by his daughters, Tonya Davis (Pete) and Sonya Alford (Alex), and his grandchildren: Jeremy Davis, Allie Alford, and Hayden Alford.

Among those who were asked to serve as pallbearers are Jamie Hall, Adam Hall, Will Hall, AJ Neale, Dalton Bodie, and Garrett Bodie.

A time of visitation will be Sunday, September 25th at 2 pm with funeral to follow at 3 pm at Cluster Springs Baptist Church with Reverend David Amason officiating. Burial will follow in the Cluster Springs Cemetery.
