Mildred Edith Beasley

October 24, 1919 — August 18, 2017

Mildred Edith Lewis Beasley, of DeFuniak Springs, FL, died peacefully in her dreams at her final home at the Chautauqua Center, DeFuniak Springs, FL on August 18, 2017. She was born in Enterprise, AL on October 24, 1919. She was the youngest of six children born to Dora and Robert S. Lewis of Enterprise, AL and was married to the late Bennie F. Beasley for over 32 years. Mrs. Beasley was a member of the First Methodist Church, where she attended Sunday School and was a Church Circle member for many years. She worked at Beasley's Dress Shop in downtown DeFuniak Springs for over 30 years, and made many friends from among the local ladies and young women that she very capably and personably assisted with style. She had many friends in the community. Prior to residing at the Chautauqua Center, Mrs. Beasley resided for three years at the Stanley House Assisted Living Center. She enjoyed living independently in her home until the age of 94, and often cooked tasty dishes and her well known sour cream pound cake for various occasions. She also enjoyed working in her yard and until later years, taking trips to venues around the U.S. She believed in seeing America first. Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Maude Daniels of Enterprise, AL; Odessa "Dess" Edmondson of Jacksonville; Boncile "Bunch" Yelverton of Panama City; B.B. Lewis of Enterprise; and Henton Lewis of Fremont, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie F. Beasley of DeFuniak Springs, FL; and by her late daughter-in-law, Melissa Infinger Beasley, the late wife of Robert D. Beasley, both of DeFuniak Springs, FL. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all their mother's many friends in the community over the years. The family is especially indebted to those who assisted with their mother's care during her residence first at the Stanley House and during more recent months at the Chautauqua Center. They also extend their gratitude to Hospice Services. Her life was a long and fulfilling one, without illness or discomfort, for which they are so grateful.
Mrs. Beasley is survived by three children, sons Bobby Beasley and his wife, Susan of DeFuniak Springs, FL and Tommy Beasley of DeFuniak Springs, FL; a daughter, Donna Beasley Oldford of St. Helena, CA; and two grandchildren, Bryan Beasley of Seaside, FL and Bradley "Bo" Beasley of Brooklyn, NY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Those asked to serve as Honorary Casketbearers are Greg Lathinghouse, Kelvin Wells, Buddy Infinger, Alan Rutherford, Howard Rinker and John Harold Gillis.  A time of visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday, August 25, 2017 in First United Methodist Church, 88 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs with the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Bobby Ellisor and Reverend Frances Turner officiating.
