Merry Sue Withey

December 25, 1959 — July 2, 2017

Merry Sue Withey, age 57, long time resident of DeFuniak Springs passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 in Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.  She was born December 25, 1959, and was a wonderful and loving daughter of Robert and Edna Messer.  She was a member of Community Holiness Church of DeFuniak Springs.  Sue was a loving wife, a caring mother, daughter and grandmother.  According to the family she was the most giving, compassionate person one would ever have known.  Her selflessness was something to aspire to.  Even up to her last breath she gave her all.  Known as Aunt Susie, she was more than an Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews; she loved and cared for them like a mother.  She always made sure her children and nieces and nephews went to church every week, teaching them how to pray and love unconditionally.  Her family said she was a true warrior as she battled her Leukemia, staying strong through the fight, always giving all of herself to make sure everyone was taken care of.  Sue was strong in her faith and a true believer in Jesus Christ.  As it is the world’s loss today, know it is Heaven’s gain for eternity.  Sue is predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Leon, Don and Len.

Among survivors are her loving husband of thirty eight years, Bryan Withey, son Kendall Withey, daughter Tabitha Carter and husband Joey Carter, sister Letha Miles and husband Rabbit and two special sisters-in-law, Phyliss Messer and Loretta Holland and husband Rex.  Grandchildren, Alexis, Kacelyn, Ryan, Keegan and Brooklyn.  Nieces and nephews, Carry Ann Truett and husband Shelby. Sheldon Miller and wife Rhonda, Stoney Messer and wife Stephanie, Robby Messer and wife Elizabeth, Teasa Albee and husband Denny. Nikki Rutherford and husband J.D., Brandon Messer, Jonathan Messer, Mickey Messer and wife Andrea, Michael Messer and wife Laura and twenty two great nieces and nephews

A time of visitation will be Thursday, July 6, from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, at 10:00 A.M. in Community Holiness Church with Reverend Ike Bird and Reverend Howard Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow in the Withey Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
