Melanie Frederick

Mrs. Melanie Frederick, age 66, passed away at her home in DeFuniak Springs, Sunday, August 28, 2016. She was born August 20, 1950 in Longview, Texas, the daughter of Robert Earl Frederick and Ella Mae Morris Frederick. She attended Choctawhatchee High School but moved to Oklahoma where she graduated from high school. She and her husband raised their son, but when he was in Junior High School, she went back to school eventually finishing with her Master’s Degree in Social Science. She worked for almost twenty years in Washington and Alaska and moved to Florida and eventually retired to DeFuniak Springs after her husband passed away. Melanie had a lot of interest and had a tremendous love for animals, especially her two dogs which gave her a lot of comfort and companionship.

She is survived by her son, William Mayes and wife Janet. Her sister, Juliette Spivey and her brother Robert Frederick, Jr. Her grandsons, Christian and Nicholas also survive.
