Mary Cecil (Johnson) Wilkinson

Mary Cecil Johnson Wilkinson, 94, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022.

She was born May 26, 1928, in Hartselle, Alabama, to Cecil Eugene and Julia Belle (Thompson) Johnson. She attended the University of Montevallo, and, upon graduation, she took a position as a K-12 instructor in Defuniak Springs, where she taught for over 20 years in the Walton County school system. After retirement, she and her husband Buddy enjoyed touring the United States in their RV and being with family on the beaches of South Walton. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Defuniak Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Ann Stewart; and husband of 65 years, Leelan Gordon Wilkinson, Jr. (Buddy).

She is survived by her daughters Carol Rogers (Joey), Lee Marshall (Bruce), and Susan Wilkinson; as well as her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kate Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Debbie Mathews for her care of both Buddy and Cecil over the past three years.

A time of Visitation will be held Monday, December 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Funeral Service following at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in DeFuniak Springs.

Cecil will be laid to rest with her husband Buddy at Magnolia Cemetery.
