MARTHA LOUISE NORVIEL

October 16, 1948 — February 26, 2021

Mrs. Martha Louise Noles Norviel, age 72 passed away Friday morning, February 26, 2021 at the family residence. She was born October 16, 1948 in Bainbridge, Georgia the daughter of Carson “Buck” Noles and Flonnie Kansas Ogletree Noles.  Martha moved from Jacksonville to Fort Walton Beach as a teenager and enjoyed surfing on white Panhandle beaches.  She played basketball and graduated from Choctawhatchee High School with the class of 1966.  She met the love of her life, Don Norviel while working at the Playground Daily News.  They were married 32 years, raising their family in Fort Walton Beach.  She  and her late husband moved to DeFuniak Springs in 2005 after his retirement  from a thirty year employment with the  Fort Walton Beach Fire Department and after Martha retired from her position as an advertising executive with the Playground Daily News.  Martha and Don enjoyed  several years of retirement together, loving their new home and the vastness of the outdoors away from a busier city life.  After Don’s death in 2012 Martha stayed on in the home they had both created together for retirement.  It was in that home that she departed this life to join Don in their heavenly home together.  Martha and Don were members of Saint Margaret Catholic Church of DeFuniak Springs.  She is predeceased by her husband Donald Leroy Norviel, II and  her sisters, Wauhilla Fee, Whaunell Harris, Margaret Keene and her son Clinton Eugene Cox.

Among survivors are her daughters, Marlanea Norviel and Dana Mennie,  Roxanne Lyn Benefield and husband Tim, Shanon Lea Higginbotham and husband Cecil. Her grandchildren, Robbie, Logan, Danika, Emily, Cassidy, Carson, Amelia, Janay, Cecil and Brodie; her brother Marlin Noles and wife Diane.   Five great grandchildren and her constant companion and friend, Sissy also survive.

It was Martha’s wish to be cremated.  The family will celebrate a private funeral mass at a later date.   Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
