LEON JACKSON OQUINN

October 8, 1950 — February 28, 2021

Mr. Leon OQuinn, age 70 passed away unexpectedly  at his home Sunday evening.  He was born October 8, 1950 in Nahunta, Georgia the son of Clyde Alisha OQuinn and Mary Elizabeth Allen Oquinn.   He moved with his family to Deland, Florida and after leaving school became employed as a heavy equipment operator, and worked in many areas associated with his trade, from pulp wooding to land clearing to roadbuilding, he could tackle them all.  He moved to the Walton County area to be near his sister because family meant everything to Leon.  He loved hunting and fishing and sports and was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, the Florida Gators and the Jacksonville  Jaguars.  FRY DADDY, as he was known by family and friends perfected the art of frying….beit fish, chicken, pork or beef, Fry Daddy was the master.  In speaking with Leon’s family, of greatest importance, they say that every evening before going to bed, Leon would pray for each and every member of his family.  His faith was well founded; he had the answer.  He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Frank, Ted and Harold.

Among survivors are his remaining siblings, Lucoina Tyson, Virginia Atkinsin, Maryln Lovett and husband Gordon and Kenneth OQuinn.  His sisters-in-law Anne OQuinn and Pat OQuinn and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Leon is being cremated and his cremated human remains will be interred in the family plot in Georgia.  Friends may go online to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
