Laneta Jean Dunkin was born April 15, 1963 in San Francisco, California to Wallace and Carolyn Eyvonne Simpson. She grew up in a military family that settled in Oklahoma and attended Rush Springs schools before moving to Florida. Laneta passed away on February 21, 2026.
Laneta most enjoyed the time she spent with family, especially her husband. They spent countless hours riding motorcycles, working in the yard, hunting, camping, fishing, playing pool, cooking, and attending Thunder Beach - sharing the same interests allowed them to make precious memories that will live on for many years to come. She loved farm animals, the river, and the mountains, and she liked listening to soft rock and country music. Whether making top-notch jalapeno poppers, preparing deer meat for eating and storing, working on and disassembling motorcycles, or making baby quilts for loved ones, Laneta was good at everything she did.
Laneta leaves behind her husband of over 44 years, Tony Ray Dunkin, daughters Pamela Berry and Patricia Ann Thompson, grandchildren Jacob, Chris, and Emily, and brothers Tim Simpson and Wally Simpson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Simpson and Carolyn Eyvonne Simpson and her sister Corine Simpson Perry.
Her friendly and outgoing personality was vibrant, and the smile always on her face exuded the kindness she had in her heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
