Kimberly Sue Woody

October 21, 1961 — September 6, 2025

DeFuniak Springs

Kimberly Sue Woody entered this world on October 21, 1961, in Dayton, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Mary Caroline Kinsey and Allan Thomas Brown. She passed away peacefully at her home in DeFuniak Springs, FL, on September 6, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Kim was a beacon of love and kindness, consistently displaying a genuine compassion that touched everyone she met. She had an extraordinary ability to blend seamlessly into any environment, making those around her feel instantly at ease and valued. Her warm heart radiated kindness, and her joy for life was contagious, regardless of the company she kept

Throughout her days, cherished pictures of her grandbabies stayed within easy reach, each photo a treasure she delighted in sharing. She humbly yet joyfully bragged about every new milestone they reached, her excitement never fading.

For Kim, family was her foundation. Over the years, she opened her heart and home to countless kittens and puppies, ensuring they each knew love and comfort. For Kim, the true measure of a life well-lived was the warmth and happiness she fostered in those she loved most.

Her love for cats is impossible to overstate - she was happiest when she had more cats and kittens. She considered her four-legged feline babies as part of her family as well.

Kim's hobbies included spending time with her family and caring for cats. She often visited yard sales, craft shows, thrift stores, and clothing stores with family members. Kim also spent time painting in the craft room.

She is survived by her husband Jesse Earl Woody, her father Allan Thomas Brown (Anne), mother Mary Caroline “Carol” Kinsey, siblings Vicki Warner (Randy), Dennis Brown (Diane), Tracey Marsh, Chris Kinsey (Carrie), Elaine Kinsey, and Doug Brown, grandchildren Emiah, Paisley, Devin, and MattieLynn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her stepfather, Dennis E. Kinsey; brother-in-law James “Jim” Marsh; and children Crystal Miller, Shelly Miller, and Matthew “Buzz” Miller.

“Kim has always been awesome,” and she truly lived up to that with no pretense. She had a most loving heart and was always eager to help anyone in need, never asking for anything in return. Kim was intentional in doing everything possible to make sure others were happy and had all they needed before she thought of herself. She was so special to so many. Her quick wit, humor, and words will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew her.

One of her most cherished phrases was, “It is going to be ok.” Family and friends will hold onto these words as they remember the most special moments shared—whether working together in the yard, celebrating Halloween and birthdays, enjoying shopping trips, capturing wedding pictures, or spending time at Mamie’s. She will be missed, but her reassurance—“It is going to be ok.”—stays with us.

Her family was deeply affected by her passing, and her memory will always be cherished.

Kim received a diagnosis of Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer in 2022. Since starting treatment, she quickly gained new friends—including Dr. Henry and all the special people at the cancer center. The family extends their appreciation and gratitude to all who helped Kim along her journey.
