July 15, 1943 — May 20, 2025

DeFuniak Springs

Judith Ann Beliech Chilcutt, 81, of DeFuniak Springs, FL and San Antonio, TX died peacefully at her residence in Florida on May 20, 2025. She was born July 15, 1943, in Pensacola, Florida to Thomas Clifford (Cliff) Beliech and Mamie Lee (Alexander) Beliech.

Affectionately known as Judy, she was raised in Pensacola where she met and married Charles (Buddy) Lee Houdashelt. Despite her grandfather nicknaming her “Blondie” due to her blonde hair and bright blue eyes, Judy is a member of the Oklahoma Cherokee tribe. Judy started her family with the birth of her first two sons, Kevin and Jeff. After the end of this marriage, Judy met the love of her life, Dan Michael Chilcutt, when she accidentally threw her keys in the dumpster and she asked her new neighbor, the handsome Marine she had noticed across the parking lot, to help her find them. Judy and Dan were married March 7, 1970, and Dan continued to be a helper to Judy throughout their 42 years of their marriage until his passing on August 20, 2012. The Chilcutt tribe was started when Dan adopted Judy’s two boys, Kevin and Jeff.

When Dan completed his time in the Marines, the family moved to his home state of Oklahoma and lived in Oklahoma City. There Judy worked at the newspaper for a time, and their son Cory joined the family not long after the move. Judy loved cooking, especially baking. She exhibited her talent when she won prizes for pies and once won first place for her Governor's Cookie Jar at the Oklahoma State Fair.

Judy and family moved to St. Louis, MO in 1976 where Judy became the communications director for Logan Chiropractic College. Their dreams of having a daughter in their family came true while in Missouri when first Mindy then Mandy joined the Chilcutt tribe. The girls added the missing part and completed the family. Judy also became a world traveler during this season in accompanying Dan on his business trips to various countries in Europe, the Caribbean, and multiple states in the U.S. She was an active lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi. She served as a statewide chairman and remained very active from the time she pledged in March of 1968 through all her moves.

In 1993 Judy and her family moved to San Antonio, TX. She was an avid shopper, and she loved to find bargains and treasures. While living in Texas Judy was able to share of love shopping when she opened and ran her own antiques shop. The girls, Mindy and Mandy, were raised in Texas as the boys had already grown up and started their own families. Judy was Church of Christ by faith, attending the church in Boeme. Texas

Failing health brought Judy back to Florida in April of 2024. Since most of her children had already relocated to her home state, her return meant that many of her grandchildren and even great grandchildren could visit and spend time with her more frequently. She attended Laurel Hill First Assembly of God with her son Kevin and his family as long as she was able.

Family was very important to Judy. She loved her family, and it had grown significantly over the years. Being the center of attention was also a favorite of hers and she had many family members and friends who made sure she was given the attention she deserved. She had a close relationship with her brothers Russell and Stephen. She also had many close friends with whom she kept in close contact. Bruce Dunbar was a friend who was especially good to help out when her family lived far away and her health began to decline. Even with all of her loved ones, the true never-ending love of her life may have been gummy bears followed closely by ice cream and chocolate!

.Judith was preceded in death by her father Thomas Clifford Beliech, mother Mamie Lee Alexander, husband Dan Michael Chilcutt, son Michael Cory Chilcutt, and brothers in law Craig Chilcutt and Davey Chilcutt.
