Joey Smith

Joey Smith died peacefully on December 1, 2023.  It was his 57th birthday.    Joey was born in Crestview, Florida in 1966 to parents Homer Ervin Smith, Jr and Mattie Florene Robertson.  He resided in the Panhandle of Florida most of his life and attended both Walton Middle and Walton High School.

Joey was a welder.  He enjoyed his work and was a longtime member of the Boilermakers Union.  While he spent some time working for Fisher Tank, he was self-employed many of his working years.

The births of his children are what Joey would name as the most meaningful events in his life.  His loved ones will treasure the memories they have of time spent working with him.  When Joey wasn’t welding, he could often be found fishing on the river.

Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Homer E Smith, Jr and Mattie F Smith and his grandparents, Homer E Smith, Sr and Ella Mae Smith.

He is survived by his wife Candi Smith, his children Kyle V Smith, John E Smith, Richard J Smith, Andrew M Smith, Hannah R Smith, and Maddie J Smith, and his sisters Bettie A Mize, Bonnie S Mount, and Lisa J Gatch.

He will always be remembered as kindhearted and trustworthy and as a man who was hardworking and fair.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joey’s memory to the charity of your choice.
