Jessie Mae Johnson

Jessie Mae Johnson was born on September 5, 1940 in DeFuniak Springs, FL to Enoch and Thelma Collinsworth. Jessie Mae spent all of her life calling Glendale home. She passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by family at North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, FL.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. She was a longtime member of Center Ridge Methodist Church. The Bible and gospel music were her favorite things to listen to, going to church was one of her favorite places to go, and “I Am a Child of God” was one of her most favored sayings/songs.

She was most proud of her family and the life she and her husband built. She loved family above all else, and she was so proud of each and every one of them. Raising her children and supporting them, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brought her immeasurable joy. She had a gift of celebrating every accomplishment and making little moments special. She never wanted to miss anything that involved her family, and she always made group gatherings and opportunities for creating lasting memories a priority in her life.

Some of the memories her loved ones will cherish involve front porch sitting and watching the children play in the yard. Jessie Mae would often join in the fun - playing tag and ball with them. Other memories involve sharing her hobbies of fishing, canning, sewing, and gardening. She loved horses, and she deeply missed her beloved dog, Katie. All the times together, simply being together, will forever be remembered by her loved ones, and that is exactly how Jessie would want it - family being together is what she loved the most.

Jessie Mae is survived by her daughter Telesa Raughton with husband Dwayne; daughter-in-law Sandra Thomas; grandchildren: April Raughton (Pete Elkins), Amanda McKee (Joshua), Sheena Mitchem (Derek), Chavez Johnson (Kathryn), and Harley Johnson; great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Kameron Elkins, Abagail and Corie Simmons, Raelyn, Hailey, and baby McKee, Patrisha and Shyann Gipson, Crimson, Jaxson, and Paisley Mitchem, Caysen and Madika Kyser, and Denaly, Maeley, Kalana, Lakota, and Zaelah Johnson; and a great-great-granddaughter - Myla Hodge.

She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd A. Johnson, son Rocky Johnson, parents Enoch Stafford Collinsworth and Thelma Donaldson Collinsworth, and brother Bob Collinsworth.

She will be remembered as a loving, faithful, and caring woman who put God and family first. She was kind, joyful, and happiest when surrounded by those she loved She lived her life with strong faith, kindness, and great love for her family. Her unwavering faith and gentle spirit will continue to inspire and guide all who knew her for many years to come.

She would want to be remembered as a devoted child of God who loved deeply and cherished every moment with her family. She loved her husband with all her heart and after missing him for so long, there is peace in knowing they are reunited in heaven.
