Janis Lea Burke, age 67, passed away peacefully beside her loving son, Adam, with her sisters, Sandra & Susan nearby in the comfortof her home early on February 1, 2026.

Janis was born on February 14, 1958 to Jesse & Genevieve Reddick in Pensacola, Florida after her older brother, David Reddick, her older sister, Karen Kullman, and before her younger sisters, Sandra Carter and Susan Kersey.

In her younger years she was a loving and supportive wife to her husband and a stay at home mother to her two children. Later, Janis went back to school graduating from West Florida University and subsequently, with her Juris Doctorate, from Florida State College of Law in 1989. She went on to practice law for over 35 years, most of which was spent in her own private practice in Walton and Okaloosa Counties.

She was a loving wife of 40 years to her husband, Dusty, until his passing in 2018, and stayed devoted to him until her death. She was also an incredible mother to her two children, Adam Burke and Kansas Burke and loving nana to her seven grandchildren, Olivia, Greyson, Tristan, Presley, Alannah, Hudson, and Fallon.

She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She loved Jesus, her family, the beach, adored traveling with her husband, children, sisters, and nieces and later in life discovered her passion for painting.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jesse Iverson Reddick and mother, Genevieve Agatha Reddick as well as her father in law, Henry Burke. She is survived by her son, Adam and daughter, Kansas, her grandchildren Olivia Burke Stange, Greyson WesleyPitts, Tristan Stewart Burke, Presley Grace Pitts, Alannah Elizabeth Burke, Hudson Burke Pitts, and Fallon Duston Turner. She is also survived by her brother David, and his wife Lisa; her sister, Karen and her husband Curt; her sister, Sandra and her husband Eddie; her sister, Susan and her husband Joe; her loving mother in law, Rachel Burke; her sister in law, Donna and her husband Charlie; her brother in law, Dwight and his husband Jack; and her brother in law, Dexter Burke. Janis was also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.

Janis was spirited, strong, loyal, independent and loved her husband and children fiercely. She persevered through many trials in her life with grace and love leaning on the Most High, especially after the passing of her devoted husband, Dusty in 2018.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs beginning at 1:30 p.m. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 pm. Those serving as pallbearers will be Adam Burke, Tristan Burke, Greyson Pitts, Hudson Pitts, and Jonathan Pitts.
