Irene Rushing Bozeman Garner

Biography

Mrs. Irene Rushing Bozeman Garner, age 82, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2013 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. She was born July 20, 1930 in Walton County, the daughter of Noah Marion Rushing and Rosey Lee Kirvy Rushing. After high school, she married and began raising her children. She was a caregiver and worked at Walton County Convalescent Center when it first opened. She not only was a caregiver by profession, but also was a caregiver for her own family. Irene loved growing vegetables and flowers and enjoyed watching westerns on television. Family members report going to visit and there would always be a western playing on television; the next week they would come back and the same western would be on again. Irene also was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball Fan.

Among survivors are her sons; Billy Ray Blane, Richard Alford Blane and Jamie Alton Bozeman and wife Tammy. Her daughters, Barbara Hicks and husband Frankie, Mary Diane Blane and Shirlon Turner and husband Donald. Her grandchildren, Amanda, Holly, Kayla, Kelli, Larry, Lacey, Breanna, Brian, Kristie, Tiffany, Krystal, Kevin, Willie and Clyde. Her sisters, Inez Gainey and husband J.W.,and Rachel Burke and husband Henry. Her brother, Kirby “Toby” Rushing and wife Sue and her sisters-in-law Virginia and Charlene. Thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

An early afternoon visitation will be Monday, June 3, 2013 from 5 until 7 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Blane Family Cemetery with Reverend Mike McVay and Reverend Lonnie Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Blane Family Cemetery.
