Biography Mrs. Geraldine Ward Shaw, age 80 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. She was born November 3, 1930 in Coffee County, Alabama the daughter of William Claude Ward and Fannie Sunday Ward. Mrs. Shaw was a homemaker and also had a full time job being a minister’s wife, a position she did not see as a job, but rather as a privilege. In addition to providing a comfortable and loving home for her family she excelled as a cook, her specialties being her dumplings, her lemon meringue and coconut pies and sour cream pound cakes, all made from scratch and all very much sought after at church gatherings. She loved gospel music and spent her entire life loving and serving her God and her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Reverend Johnnie Roland Shaw, her sisters Anna Belle and Earlene and her brother J.D.

Among survivors are her children Johnnie Harlan Shaw and wife Carrol; Carolyn Shaw Money and husband Devon and Wendell Shaw and wife Kim. Her grandchildren, Ron and wife Tina, Danny and wife Della, Chris, Ledonne, Bethany and Jessica. Her brother, William Edward Ward and wife Selora, her sisters-in-law Juliette Shaw and Kay Gates.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Friday, April 29, 2011 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Jeff Cain officiating, assisted by Reverend Mike White. Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery in Samson, Alabama.
