Gerald Phillip Adams, Jr. "Phil"

Gerald Phillip Adams, Jr, “Phil”, was born December 18, 1953 in Batesville, MS to Gerald Phillip Adams and Mary Nell Davidson Adams. He spent his childhood in Sardis, Mississippi. Phil served in the Air Force and was stationed at Incirlik Air Force Base in Turkey and then Niceville, FL. He passed away on August 31, 2026.

During his time in the Air Force, Phil loved his worked in medical records. His natural attention to detail kept the job interesting to him, and, after his retirement, he continued in the field with work at North Okaloosa Medical Center as an ER clerk. He found the practices and procedures of the medical field fascinating, and he was always studying the things around him.

Phil was most proud on the days his daughters were born. Getting to watch and experience them reaching every milestone brought him immense joy as well. He loved spending time with family and rarely missed opportunity to do so. His family will always treasure the memories they now have of time spent sitting on the living room floor with him listening to music and times together watching movies - when Phil was younger old sci-fi movies and, in most recent years, old westerns. A true ‘Trekkie’, the original Star Trek movies were often on repeat for movie watching times, and his music selection was most often Led Zeppelin. Between music and movies, he also was an avid reader.

Phil is survived by his daughters Tisha Gilreath (Travis) and Jennifer Pizarras and grandchildren Dylan Gilreath, Max Pizarras, Sean Gilreath, Breanna Pizarras. He also leaves behind aunt and uncle Pat and Billy Smith, and uncle Glen Adams.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Phillip Adams, his mother, Mary Nell Davidson Adams, and his brother, Steve Adams.

Phil was inquisitive with a façade that often came off as private and guarded, but as he got to know people, his tough exterior melted away and revealed the man his family and friends knew and loved. The real Phil was genuine, caring, and quick-witted.
