FRANCES EVANS

Mrs. Frances Evans, age 86 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday morning, September 8, 2020 in North Okaloosa Medical Center.   She was born April 25, 1934 in Leonia, Florida, the daughter of McCoy D. Thompson and Eula Mae Whitehead Thompson.  Frances attended Darlington School and it was there  she met Dee Evans and at age 16 he won her heart.  They were married September 16, 1950 and raised four girls and two boys while Dee worked at Eglin and then Fairchild for some twenty years.  When the babies were grown, Frances began a nursing career.  Like most women of that era, she had her "stories", As The World Turns and The Guiding Light.   For those who had the privilege of knowing and loving Frances, they saw under that armor of sternness and strict discipline a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  It is often said, dogs have the ability to know and recognize a kind heart and Frances dogs adored her.

Among survivors are her children, Shirley (Herb), Betty (Ralph), Carolyn, Mary (Leon), Charles (Fran) and Danny (Lisa).  Her grandchildren, John (Charity0, Philip (Brooke), Mark (Mary Ellen), Eric (Nicole), Jenny (Swap), Amanda, Chris (Tanya), Heather, Kevin, Dawn (Shane), Vicki, Daniel (Alyssa), Kristen (Jordon), Marie (Grover and Ralph II (Tonya).   Her brothers, Earl, Burl and James (Georgia) Thompson .  Forty five great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted.  A time of visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2020 from 9 until 10 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 10:00 A.M. with Reverned David King officiating.  Burial will follow in the Evans Family Plot in Leonia Cemetery.  Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
