Elijah Williams

Mr. Elijah Williams, age 58, formerly of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday September 29, 2009 in a Tallahassee healthcare facility. He was born October 26, 1950 in DeFuniak Springs the son of George Henry Williams and Ruby Lee Lacy Williams. He attended Tivoli School graduating with the Class of 1969. After attending Florida A&M he worked at the State Capitol later transferring to the Department of Saftey and Motor Vehicles where he worked for some thirty years until retirement. In his retirment he enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, listening to music and playing dominoes. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Tallahassee.

Among survivors are his daughters Schnelle Patrice Williams and Pamela Maria Williams both of Tallahassee. His brothers, Thomas Lacy and wife Virginia of New Orleans; George Williams, Jr. of Monroe, La.; Elisha Williams of Ruston, La.; Anderson Williams and Clarence Williams and wife Kim. His sisters, Bertha Hood and Laura Henderson all of DeFuniak Springs and Shirley Brown and husband Setrell of Valdosta. The mother of his children, Jean Williams Adams of Tallahassee. His grandchildren: Mikquaile Jones, Jermari Wright, Armarni Williams and Delvin Glynn. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Floral arrangments are being accepted. Services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 12:00 Noon in Jerry Evans Chapel, 668 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433 with Minister George Williams, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Euchee Valley Cemetery.
