Mr. Edward Lee Holden, age 65 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the family residence. He was born July 17, 1950 in Rosman, North Carolina and was the eldest son of Lee Roy and Vera Reyes Holden. Mr. Holden was the founder and owner of Holden Construction and recently worked with Tri County Community Council. He especially loved family gatherings and hunting and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Holden’s loving wife of forty one years, Marjorie Jean Ralston Holden, his parents, his sister-in-law Susan Ann Holden and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Elvin E. and Elvera Ralston preceded him in death.

Among survivors are his daughters D’ette Holden Chamberlain (Tracy) and Laurie Holden (Stephen Kelley). His brother, Lee Roy Holden and special friend Colleen Sconiers and his grandchildren, Chloe, Peyton and Marissa Andrews and Christopher Kelley. Nieces and nephews, Chris, Issac and Randall Holden, LeeAnn Wallace, Craig Bruckman and Kara and Kaylyn Douglass. His sister-in-law Darlene Douglass and husband Matthew also survive.

Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Randall Holden, Isaac Holden, Chris Holden, Eugene Hamilton, Craig Bruckman, Stephen Kelley and Tracy Chamberlain. Honorary pallbearers will be those who were employed and worked with Edward over the years. Floral arrangements are being accepted or memorials may be made in Edward Holden’s memory to Gideons (cards and contribution envelopes to Gideons will be available at the door). A time of visitation will be Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend Mahlon LeCroix officiating. Burial will follow in the Holden family plot in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
