Mr, Doyle Richardson, age 88, lifelong resident of the DeFuniak Springs area passed away at the family home late Wednesday night, October 10, 2018. He, like many children of his generation, dropped out of school to get a job to help support his family. Later, he got a job driving a school bus on Eglin Air Force Base. He next transferred to work at Hulburt Field where he maintained heating systems. Doyle worked civil service a total of thirty-one years and then retired at age 49 to devote more time to his hobby of row crop farming and caring for his herd of black angus cattle. Doyle loved the outdoors especially hunting quail and deer with his family and friends. He took immense pleasure watching his grandsons grow to become men, both achieving advanced degrees and now serving as a physician and an attorney. Doyle loved to meet with close friends on Sunday mornings before church at the Mossy Head General Store to drink coffee and contribute his “two cents ” toward solving the world’s problems. He and his wife were active, faithful members of New Harmony Baptist Church until ill-health prevailed.
Among survivors, his son Donnie and wife Sharon and his daughter Linda. His grandsons Aaron and Matthew, and his sister Merle Yates and husband Coy. His sister-in-law Jimmy Richardson and his brother-in-law Lawrence “Tom” Parrish also survive.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Larry Geoghagan, Tim Geoghagan, Linn Jetton, Martin Tucker , Adam Yates and Kirk Zesson. Floral arrangements are being accepted or memorials may be made in Doyle Richardson’s memory to New Harmony Baptist Church, 2281 County Highway 2A, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433 or to First Christian Preschool of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs, 216 Live Oak Avenue East, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435
