Donnie Fay (Weeks) Cooley

Donnie Fay (Weeks) Cooley, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Eden Assisted Living/Memory Care in Crestview, Florida.  She was born on March 31, 1933, in Samson, Alabama to R.W. and Ecie (Wise) Weeks.  Donnie Fay graduated from Walton High School in 1951 and worked at the PX, Eglin Field.  She met her future husband, Clarence Cooley, at the famous Argyle Dances.  After their marriage in 1952, his military career took them to numerous states.  Upon her husband’s Air Force retirement, the family returned home to DeFuniak Springs in 1970.

Donnie Fay was the quintessential homemaker and pursued many other interests. She was Christian by faith and a member of First Baptist Church DeFuniak Springs.  She was an elementary school PTA President, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and hosted many dinners and events, including one for a state Congressman.  She also once had her own women’s boutique.  She loved cooking, finding a bargain at yard sales, and was well known for decorating her home for all holidays.  She was known for her striking blue eyes, her feisty nature, her generosity, and her love for family.

Donnie Fay was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Clarence,  daughters Linda Sue Cooley and Lisa Ann (Cooley) Davis, brother Garlon Weeks, brother-in-law Buddy Supple, and sons-in-law Ben L. Holley and John H. White.

She is survived by her daughters Pam Holley and Beth (David) Amason, grandchildren, Angie Holley (Sean) Desmond, Jessica Brown, Matt (Brittany) Davis, Cody White, and Caleb White, great-grandchildren Kevin Desmond, Kristen Desmond and Madyson Brown, sister Helen Supple, sister-in-law Griselda Weeks, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are: Greg Weeks, Chris Weeks, Mark Weeks, Shane Supple, Kenny Byrd, and Lyle Seigler.

The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice of Crestview and the Eden Facility staff for their special care and kindness to our mother.

Donnie Fay was a loving, devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed.

Visitation at Evans-McDonald Funeral Home 10:00-11:00AM on Monday, October 31, 2022, with Graveside Service immediately following at Magnolia Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs.
