Biography

Mr. David Albert Sinclair, Age 63 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the family residence. He was born May 31, 1945 in Flint, Michigan the son of John Alexander Sinclair and Elsie Dudley Newberry Sinclair. David was a graduate of Davison High School in Michigan and then attended Dartmoth College in New Hampshire. He then moved to Detroit and the Ann Arbor area and became a part of the “Sixities Generation” and everything associated with it. He married Elizabeth Ann Vogel and they moved to California where David was involved in the construction boom. In 1999 David and Liz moved to DeFuniak Springs to be near her mom. He managed The Book Store until ill health prevailed. David was active in AA and was an avid member of Relay For Life where he worked countless hours. Naturally he was an avid reader and loved fishing.

Among survivors are his wife Liz Sinclair of DeFuniak Springs. His brother, John Sinclair of Amsterdam. His sister, Kathy Sinclair Smith of Hamden, CT. His mother-in-law Marilyn Louwerens of DeFuniak Springs. His brother-in-law Bob Voel and wife Joyce of Tecumseh, MI. His sisters-in-law Susan Hurt of Nashville, Diane Merritt and husband Tim of Brookland, MI and Leni Sinclair of Detroit, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

David wished for two things. First, that memorials be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, c/o Lynn Touchton, P. O. Box 1072, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 the founding office of Relay For Life and secondly rather than a funeral or memorial service that those that knew and loved him celebrate his life in their own special way and in their own private moments as they remember him.
