Corene Adams Brackins

Mrs. Corene Brackins, age 88 of the Steele Church Community of Walton County passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in a Pensacola Healthcare facility. She was born October 7, 1925 in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of John L. and Nora Bell Sullivan Adams. While living with her family in Orlando, Corene made high-end custom drapes and bedspreads. She was always talented in crocheting, needlepoint and quilting. After moving to DeFuniak Springs she continued her craft and was responsible for needlepointing the cushions on the prayer rail in Alaqua United Methodist Church where was a faithful and loyal member until ill health prevailed. She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon Alva Brackins who passed away in October of 2008.

Among survivors are her sons, Charles Brackins and wife Sheri and Cliff Brackins. Her sisters, Willie Bell, Dorothy Mooney and Vera O’Brien and her brother, Dewitt Adams and wife Corene. Nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Corene Brackins’ memory to Alaqua United Methodist Church , 104 Ruth Dorriety Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in Alaqua United Methodist Church with Reverend Jesse Evans and Reverend Henry Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Brackins Family Plot in Alaqua Cemetery.
