CLARY WILBURN DAY

Mr. Clary Day, age 83 of Darlington passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at the family residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born March 28, 1938 in Argyle, Florida the son of John Alcus Day and Annie Lee Hinson Day.  He remained in Argyle until he graduated from Walton High School in 1957.  He moved to Pensacola in 1960 where he was employed by Jitney Jungle Stores of America.  In 1981 Clary relocated to Jackson, Mississippi until he retired from the company in 1996.  Upon his retirement he returned to Darlington to live the rest of his life in the country he loved.  He is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Eloise Gillis, John A. Day, Jr., Charles Allison Day, June Hobbs, Leroy Day, Carl Day and Dale Day.

He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Virginia; his daughters Debi Middleton and Myra Pettey.  Grandchildren, Christopher Pettey and wife Jennifer, Jenna Henderson and husband Charlie, Lindsay Pettey, Hallie Smith, Sara Reno and Keely Courtney and husband Ryan, all who lovingly referred to him as their “Honey”.  Clary is also survived by his twelve great grandchildren, Colton, Carleigh, Jackson, Kaydence, Colin, Corbin, Camden, Carson, Harper, Amelia, Aurora and Violet.  Also surviving is his sister Alice Fuller and his sisters-in-law, Pat Day, Peggy Day, Vivian Scott, Mary Ann Scott and his brother-in-law Ronald Lee Scott.

Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Ron Alford, John Day, , Charlie Johnson, Gary Barker, Charlie Henderson and Steve Pettey.  Floral arrangements are being accepted.  A time of visitation will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 11 until Noon in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at Noon with Brother Greg Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Limestone Cemetery.  Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
