Mr. Charles Morrow, age 78, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the family residence. He was born January 24, 1941 in Ponce deLeon, Florida, the son of C.L. and Elizabeth Coulliette Morrow. He grew up and lived most of his life within yards of where he was born. He was a 1959 graduate of Ponce deLeon High School and upon graduation attended Atlanta School of Electronics. After graduation he moved to Milton where he was employed with Tops TV and Appliance. When an opening came up in DeFuniak’s first Cable Company, Charles moved home and began employment with them. In October of 1979 he began a courtship with who would become the love of his life and he and Flora were married June 15, 1984. Charles and Flora owned and operated Americana Electronics in downtown DeFuniak Springs until it closed in 1991. As was with small, family owned and operated stores, big box stores had taken their toll. Never one to sit idle, Charles immediately got a job with the Cope Center, a position he held until June of 2016 when he retired. Finally in retirement Charles was able to pursue his love of the outdoors, there on the land he was born and raised; raising cows, gardening and row cropping, and fishing, his favorite pastime. Probably one of the best illustrations of Charlie’s tenacity and drive was in the past several months, when health problems became pronounced and inhibited his ability to be outdoors, working his garden and making way to the barn some yards away from the house. One afternoon the family noticed folding chairs, spaced feet apart in the yard leading to the barn. Not to be out done, Charles had created a safe path, with rest areas to enable him walking to the barn. This zest for life, and this refusal to “give up” was how Charles approached everything in life; his love of family, his success in business and his dogged determination to make the best of any situation. He is predeceased by his parents and his daughter Linda Sue Morrow.
Among survivors are his wife Flora Bagents Morrow, his son, Nathan Morrow and Brittni, his daughters Debra Wilson and husband Bryan, Sharon Sproul and husband John, Charlene Sweat and husband Rob and Annecia Dunaway and husband Danny. His brother Bob Morrow and wife Pat and his sister Cora Hicks. His grandchildren, Kimber, Shelby, Linda Jo, Kristine, Cynthia, Brittney, Derek, Brandon, Justin, Robbie, Courtney and Tommy. Ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
