Carolyn Whitehurst

Mrs. Carolyn Rebecca Rouse Whitehurst, age 75 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009. She was born May 22, 1934 in Mount Holley, New Jersey, the daughter of James Leon and Rebecca Fox Rouse. She was formerly of Avon Park, Florida. After graduating from Fort Pierce High School she met and married her husband of 54 years, James Edward Whitehurst; became an Army wife and traveled all over the world. She was a homemaker whose greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her spare time she loved to paint, do home projects and work in her yard. She is predeceased by her father, her husband, a sister Bessie Jean Johnson and a granddaughter, Heather Marie Simpko.
Among survivors are her mother, Rebecca Falvin Fox Rouse of DeFuniak Springs. Her brother, James Leon Rouse, Jr. of Fort Pierce. Her daughter, Debbie Simpko and husband Gary of Streator, Illinois. Her sons Eddie Whitehurst and wife Barbie , Jeff Whitehurst and wife Denise all of Bonifay and Will Whitehurst and wife Maria of DeFuniak Springs. Fourteen grandchildren, Shane, Adam, Jeremy, Missy, Jenni, Tyler, Lacey, Eli, Hunter, Justin, Travis, Brandy, Toby and Dalton. Ten greatgrandchildren, Tatum, Miya, Sophia, Preston, Macey, Maley, Mason, River, Lil Hunter and Caitlyn
also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to funeral time. Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 25, 2009 in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Barrett Glover officiating.
