CAROL ANN BENTON HODGES

October 3, 1937 — October 4, 2021

Carol Ann Hodges “Mimi,” age 84, passed away in the morning of Monday, October 4, 2021, at her home in Destin, Florida. She was born October 3, 1937, in Opp, Alabama the daughter of Henry Dee and Nobra Ree “Mama Doot” Benton. Carol Ann graduated from Opp High School with the Class of 1956.  She attended Troy State University and then met and married the love of her life, Jerry Hodges.  She was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Destin held a special place in Carol Ann’s heart with many wonderful past summers spent there with her family. The last few years of her life Carol Ann spent living in Destin with her caring granddaughter, Rachael, who was like a daughter to her.  She was a devoted and loving Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Her devout commitment to joyously spread the Love and Word of God was her main purpose. She wanted everyone to know our Savior. Her caring and gentle spirit touched so many lives as she was an inspiration to us all. She was everyone’s prayer warrior! Her strength was rooted in her faith. May we all learn to be as caring, loving, and kind as our precious Mimi.  Carol Ann is predeceased by her parents, her husband Jerry Hodges and three of her children, Leeann, Libby and Hal.


Carol Ann is survived by her son, Henry Dee Hodges and his wife Mary Hodges; her grandchildren Rachael Earley, Dee Hodges, Dana Hodges, Jeri Lynn Clark, Georgia Ray Senterfitt, Henry David Hodges, and his fiancé Janet, Leah Ree Infinger, Margaret Ream, and her husband Ethan, and Harold “Hal” Benton Hodges, and numerous great-grandchildren. Also, Carol Ann is survived by her precious sisters Kay Cassady, Beth Green, Patti Jeffcoat and her husband, Everett and a loving and supporting group of nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law Mary Sue DeShazo, June Adair, and Jackie Fentress also survive her.


Floral arrangements are being accepted.  A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM, in Jerry Evans Chapel. At 3:30 PM, Reverend David Amason will share a few words of hope and inspiration before leaving for the interment service at the Hodges Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery where Carol Ann will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jerry and her beloved children Leeann, Libby, and Hal. COVID-19 Protection Protocol is suggested.
