Carly Alaine McDonald

Carly Alaine McDonald was born in Fort Walton Beach on June 12, 1987 to parents Bob McDonald and Vickie Boudreaux. She began her schooling at West DeFuniak Elementary then had moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee during her late childhood years where she graduated from Riverdale High School. After high school, Carly returned to the Panhandle and attended Okaloosa-Walton College (now Northwest Florida State College). She remained in the area, calling Miramar Beach home, until her unexpected passing on June 9, 2026.

Carly was a cheerleader from 5th grade through her senior year, and still holding onto her cheer uniforms was one way she kept those fun memories fresh. Another gift of Carly’s, one that few people actually knew about, was her voice. She had a lovely singing voice and was proudly chosen to sing the National Anthem at events during her junior high years.

Carly had a big giving heart. While she had a best friend in her mom, Vickie, and they both treasured their daily talks, Carly had a genuine way of making everyone feel like a special friend in her life.

She loved animals and had several dogs and cats throughout her lifetime. She loved to play games - she was a fierce competitor on Mario Carts, and she also loved to make bracelets, visit the beach, and eat chicken quesadillas with an extra side of queso! Photography was a cherished hobby of hers - she enjoyed snapping pictures of everything around her, but she had a special interest in capturing moments of her beloved niece and nephews.

Carly is survived by her mother Vickie A. Boudreaux (Kirk Menard), father Robert “Bob” Byron McDonald, brother Chase McDonald and sister-in-law Ashley, niece Vivienne McDonald and nephews Tanner and Andrew McDonald. She also leaves behind maternal uncles Wayne Boudreaux (Debbie) and Walton Boudreaux, Jr (Genny), maternal aunt June Foret, paternal aunt Debbie Richards (Mike), paternal uncle William “Bill” McDonald, and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Walton Paul Boudreaux and Edelia Price Boudreaux and paternal grandparents Foyest “Hooks” McDonald and Laura “Kate” McDonald.

An “untamed, free spirit” describes Carly well. She did what she loved and lived life to the fullest, making the most of the day at hand with no worries about tomorrow. “Shoulda, coulda, woulda” and “Stay in your lane” were a couple of her favorite sayings, and her words will now serve as precious memories for all who knew and loved her.
