Bobbie Jewel Strouse passed away on June 21, 2025. She was 84 years old.
Bobbie was born April 10, 1941, in Brewton, AL to Austin Pittman and Lizzie Mae Howard.
Returning to the area after her husband was stationed in Hawaii, Bobbie took a job frying chicken at the Piggly Wiggly in Crestview and later transitioned to the phone company where she worked as an operator until she was able to retire.
Bobbie loved her Savior, Jesus, and she attended church services every Sunday. She was an amazing person who greatly treasured her family and friends. Spending time with friends, her sisters, grandchildren, and nieces was something she made a priority and was always eager to do. Friends and family hold many years’ worth of memories of times spent together.
Activities like canoeing, fishing in the river, and cooking were some of her favorites. She loved grocery shopping for fruits and sweets, and she made the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays very special for her family with her wonderful cooking. She worked very hard for all she had, and she made sure her family was taken care of. Keeping a clean and tidy house was just one of the many ways Bobbie served her family. She felt that time spent cleaning her home was time very well spent. When it was time for rest or play, Bobbie could be found having fun in Atmore playing slot machines or relaxing watching Gunsmoke or other westerns.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter Lori, grandsons James and Michael, granddaughter Sara, great-granddaughters Bella, Harper, and Ayla, sister Elaine, longtime boyfriend David Brooks, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
