Betty Beach

Mrs. Betty Shiver Beach, age 81 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008. She was born December 6, 1926 in Panama City, Florida the daughter of Ezekiel Nixon Shiver and Florence Simmons Shiver. Most will remember Betty in her employment with Florida Division of Children and Family Services and later with the Cope Center where she worked some 33 years between the two state agencies. Betty loved life, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Beach was a member of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. She is predeceased by her son Sidney Nixon Beach and her sister Elizabeth Shiver Eubanks.

Among survivors are her children, Val Beach and wife Vivian, Michael Beach, Sr., Dorothy Beach Flack and husband Marty, and Sidney Beach. Her sister, Mary Spence; her grandchildren, Corey, Micha, Michael, Jr., Justin and Nicholas. Six great grandchildren also survive.

A time of visiation will be Friday, October 3, 2008 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Jerry Chumley officiating.
Burial will follow at the family plot in Lynn Haven Cemetery in Lynn Haven, Florida.
