Bernice Boykin

Mrs. Bernice Boykin, age 84 passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 5, 1930 in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of Willis Monroe Griggs and Clara Odell Bedsole Griggs. Most will remember Bernice in her association with locally owned grocery stores where she worked most of her adult life. Most important to Bernice was her family and her relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Those who knew Bernice, knew her as a genuine, loving and caring person who befriended all with whom she came in contact. Sister Bernice was a lifelong member of Beech Grove Church of God.

She is predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Troy Boykin, her first husband and father of her children, Bullie Ander Wood. Her son, Donnie Wood, her daughter Eldora Wood. Her granddaughter Hailey Lynn Wood. Her sisters, Willie Mae Owens, Lucille Owens, Olene King and Maggie Davis.

Among survivors are her grandchildren, Jason Hamilton, Donnie N. Wood and Nathan D. Wood. Her sisters, Merle Carter and Juanita Floyd. Her daughter-in-law Janet Wood and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 from Noon until 1 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 1 P.M. with Brother Kenny Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Euchee Valley Cemetery.
