After 95 years of precious life, Annie Floried White passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 30, 2024. She was surrounded by loved ones. Born in Savannah, Georgia on June 11, 1929, to parents Rufus David Brabham and Ruby Laura Donaldson, Floried spent her young years in Savannah until becoming a military wife by her marriage to Wilton White in August of 1946. The years that followed allowed her to call many places home as the military moved their family around until Wilton’s retirement in 1971.
Floried stayed busy raising their children as their family grew, and she also worked in civil service. She and Wilton settled in Walton County in 1971. She was a longtime member of Mossy Head Baptist Church, and she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Many things made Floried happy - chocolate, pink flowers, laughing and making others laugh, baking, making fudge, traveling (especially traveling to visit family), and making quilts to name a few. Nothing, though, made her happier than her family and spending time with them. She loved them deeply, and she made sure they knew it. One of her favorite sayings was “I love you. Do you love me, and if you don’t, why don’t you, and if you won’t, why won’t you?” Those words will bring a smile to the faces of her loved ones as it resounds in their ears for many years to come. Remembering Floried say, “Am I gonna have trouble with you?” and “Oh by goodness!” are other words her family and loved ones will treasure.
Floried leaves behind 4 children Brenda Cannetto, Marilyn White, John David White, and Joan Desruisseaux, grandchildren Larry Morris (Lissa), Frank Caliendo (Ali), Kelly Schlachter, Patricia Bew, Cathy Wilson, Gwen Morland, Jennifer Whitaker, Lucy White, Rachel White, and Michael Caliendo, sisters Linda K MacMillan (Danny) and Joan Brabham, and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wilton White, daughter Cathy Diane Morris, son Wilton Kelly White, parents Rufus Brabham and Ruby Donaldson Metts, grandson Wayne Robinson, granddaughter Michelle Godfrey, and sister Louise Cowart.
Floried leaves behind a beautiful example for all to follow. She was faithful to our Lord, wholehearted in her love of everyone she knew, and dedicated to being a friend to all.
Pastor Bob Bradley of Mossy Head Baptist Church will be officiating. Flowers are being accepted, but donations can also be made to John White if desired.
