Biography

Ann Hendrix Jones, widow of the late H. C. “Cleve” Jones passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Mt. Olive, Alabama. She was born in Frisco City, Alabama the daughter of Joseph Paul Hendrix and Lou Sims Hendrix. She was married in 1946 and in 1955 she and her husband moved to DeFuniak Springs where he assumed a position as coach for the Walton County Board of Education. She worked for several local physicians and she and her husband and family were faithful members of First United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs where she sang in the Chancel Choir and was a member of Thorpe-Vest Sunday School Class. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Joy Circle and served in various offices of the church. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. In addition to being a loving and dedicated wife and mother and grandmother, Ann enjoyed playing bridge and drinking coffee with “The Coffee Group”. She is predeceased by her husband, and a brother, Joseph Paul Hendrix.

Among survivors are her son Tommy Jones and wife Anette and her daughter Luann Hobart and husband Grant. Six grandchildren Mac and wife Merideth, Josh and wife Kelli, David and wife Molly, Hobie and wife Valery, Abbi and husband Sean and Haley. Eleven great grandchildren also survive, Kate, Jacob, Henry, Annie, Dean, Sam, L. G., Kelsy, Mollie, Emma Grace and Jones.


Memorials may be made in Ann Jones memory to Chancel Choir, First United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 8, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 0009. A late afternoon visitation is planned from 5 until 7 P.M. Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral Services will be Monday, March 19, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in First United Methodist Church with Reverend Bobby Ellisor officiating. Private family interment will be later in the day in the Jones Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
