Andrew “Andy” Yelvington, Jr. passed away on March 21, 2026. He was born in Tampa, Florida on March 24, 1943 to Andrew and Denorah Yelvington. After high school, Andy joined the United States Navy and was a Petty Officer 3rd Class. Before and after his service in the Navy, Florida was home to Andy for all of his life.
Andy was a great friend, and he loved being able to help those around him in any way he could. Even in his last years, Andy was making sure those around him felt good and enjoyed their days - he will long be remembered for his jokes and his picking at people, especially his nurses, in his living facility. Fishing was a favorite pastime of his and he took advantage of opportunities to go for as long as he could.
Andy is survived by children: Michelle Young of DeFuniak Springs, Cerina Yelvington-Bush (Jonathan), Andy Yelvington (Donnella) and Adam Yelvington (Sarah), grandchildren: Crystal York (Jesse) of Newport News, VA, Brian Young of DeFuniak Springs, Nathaniel Bush (Lacie), Wesley Yelvington, Katelyn Yelvington, Cody Yelvington, Sabrina Yelvington, and Anthony Yelvington, and great-grandchildren: Baki York and Natsu York. He also leaves behind his sister Joanne Westberry (Edward) and nephews Robert Trevarthen and Jason Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia “Trish” Yelvington, parents Andrew (Andy) and Denorah (Dee) Yelvington, son-in-law Skip Young, brother Joseph Yelvington, and Siamese twin sisters.
One of his favorite ways to say ‘I love you’ was to say “I think I like you, but I’m still thinking about it.” Those who were known and loved by Andy will greatly miss his lighthearted spirit, but they will treasure the memories of jokes and good times shared for many years to come.
