Mrs. Alice Peters , age 83 passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Pensacola. She was born July 6, 1925 in Kinston, Alabama the daughter of Jeff and Kate Sutton Brannon. Mrs. Peters and her husband Floyd lived and farmed in Glendale forty plus years while Floyd was employed with the State Road Department. Most will remember Alice from her association with Walton County Hospital when it was on the east side of town and later with the same hospital system when it was located on College Avenue where she served in dietary. In their younger years Alice and Floyd loved dancing, especially square dancing, and would travel to local dance events in the area. After her husband’s death Alice moved to Pensacola where she lived with her daughter Robbin. She enjoyed working outside, loved flowers and gardening and in her leisure time loved to put puzzles together and watch Jeporady and Wheel of Fortune. She is predeceased by her husband, a daughter Mary Elizabeth and a son Terry Melvin Peters and two brothers Grover and J.B. Brannon.
Among survivors are her daughters, Gail P. Cloud and husband Jerry and Robbin Ann Matthews; a grandchild Brannon Matthews and her sister Inez Adkinson.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday May 1, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Brother Wilbur Williams officiating. . Burial will follow in Glendale Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
